Child Friendly Fruit Salad

My fruit salad is so easy to make a three year can do it!
It's a great way to get the kids interested in fruit, healthy eating and cooking.
You can use any fruit you and your kids like. Let them chop the soft fruit with a plastic knife or butter knife.

This fruit salad consists of:
Orange Juice
Mandarin Oranges
Royal Gala Apples
Golden Delicious Apples

  • Let your children put the berries and grapes in to the  bowl while you peel the oranges. Have them pluck the grapes from the vine if you like.
  • Give your children the peeled oranges to part into segments while you cut the apples into segments.
  • Give your children the apple segments and have them cut the apple into 3 pieces. Royal Gala and Golden Delicious are nice soft varieties.
  • Pour orange juice over and stir.

What do you put in your fruit salad?
Do you let the kids help?

Cold Meat Platter: MAN SALAD

It's summer. It's hot. Nobody wants a big hot dinner. It's time for salads. But what do you do with a man that doesn't eat "rabbit food"? You can' t give him a salad, no way, give him a Cold Meat Platter.
This is a wonderful way of disguising a salad and making it a MAN SALAD.

The Man Salad above consists of:
  • Salami
  • Ham
  • Turkey
  • Carrot Sticks
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Mixed Leaves
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Pasta Salad

Have you ever made a cold meat platter?
What meats would you use?

Chicken Loaf

Vote for me @ Top Mommy Blogs - Mom Blog Directory

This is yet again adapted from an Annabel Karmel recipe "Mrs. Rabbit's Chicken Slices."
It is a type of meat loaf using chicken  instead of beef.
It has a great texture. You can cut it into slices for older kids and adults, fingers for baby and even mash it for younger babies. My little lady loved squishing it between her fingers and she loved eating it too!
The following ingredients go a long way. I cut the loaf and froze one half.

*You will need a food processor and a loaf tin.

1 cooked chicken breast
1 large carrot chopped
1 onion chopped
1 tsp chopped parsley
1 slice of bread
1 egg

  • Put everything, except the egg, into a food processor and whizz them up until everything is finely chopped.
  • Check through the mixture for any large pieces and remove, this is for baby remember!
  • Put in a mixing bowl and stir in the egg.
  • Spray a loaf tin with oil and spoon your mixture in. Don't worry if the loaf tin you have is too big, pack it into one side.
  • Cook in the oven 180C for 30mins.
  • Cut, slice, mash, enjoy.
